The 33,000-acre Ross Barnett Reservoir is a popular outdoor getaway location that features five campgrounds, 16 parks, numerous boat launch areas and nature walks. Campsites range from simple to fully-loaded; the Timberlake Campground has a recreation building containing laundry facilities and a game room as well as outdoor tennis courts. It is located less than 10 miles northeast of downtown Jackson.
